Solving housing affordability together Project funding and mortgage financing Funding programs All funding opportunities Shelters initiative for Indigenous women and children Funding Available for Shelters On-Reserve Save Share Funding Available for Shelters On-Reserve Forgivable loans for up to 100% of total eligible costs for the construction of new shelters CMHC will provide funding of $31.7 million, delivered through its On-Reserve Shelter Enhancement Program (SEP) , to build 10 shelters in First Nation communities on-reserve across the country. Thank you for your interest in the Shelters Initiative. Announced on June 17, 2021 , we have selected recipients for the construction and ongoing operational support of 12 new shelters across Canada for Indigenous women, children, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people escaping family violence. The selection process was guided by a committee with representatives from CMHC, ISC, the National Aboriginal Circle Against Family Violence, as well as Shelter Managers and Directors working in Indigenous shelters.
